The Difference Between Components and Accessories

Components are the parts of your bike without which your bike couldn't function. This includes derailleurs, rims, handlebar, brakes, saddle, cables, hubs, tubes, tires, stem, spokes, pedals, cranks and more. Accessories are anything added to the bike for comfort or utility. This includes packs, racks, lights, pumps, patch kits, water bottles, brake boosters and more.

Is the Price Right?

You should always try to buy the best gear you can afford. This general rule is good for any sport. You depend on your gear to keep you out of trouble or to get you out of trouble — you don't want it to fail.
